ABOUT ME

Hi there!

My name is Stephanie and I am currently studying Fine Arts and Critical Visions at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. I plan to be a professor or educator in some capacity in the future, and my study engagements reflect my interests in art theory, cultural studies, pedagogy, and social justice. As a student, I value interdisciplinary learning and think it brings greater understanding to contrasting subjects. I’m also personally interested in working in and around communities, outreach, and additional art disciplines such as music, ethno-musical studies, dance, and everything in-between.

I find that my strengths as a connected and historically-oriented learner have helped me understand precedence within not only the arts and its culture but the institutions with which I interact as well. This allows me to pursue the study of emerging art forms and tangential fields with a profound understanding. They have also helped me become a person who is inclined to see big-picture connections across disciplines, and because of this, I have come to strongly value interdisciplinary learning that bridges the gap between the arts, humanities, and sciences.

My current practice centers around music as cultural memory, specifically using reggaeton to communicate intergenerational nostalgia in recent years. I love to talk about music, snacks, and art, and I'm obsessed with Bad Bunny. I also love to develop interdisciplinary projects and connecting with new people, so reach out anytime!
